Her sister, Bella, was killed when their apartment was raided. Soon after, many women were forced to work, and Tsila's mother worked for the mayor. She met a German bookkeeper there, and one day, he promised he would do anything to save her life.
In July, 1942, she was told to take Tsila, and to hide in her German friend's house.
